Privacy Policy

Plain English summary: We collect only what we need to run your construction projects. We don't sell your data. We don't show you ads. Your financial and site data is yours.

1. Who We Are

Akoma Build Ltd ("Akoma", "we", "us") operates the Akoma construction management platform at akomabuild.com, including the investor dashboard, foreman PWA, and all associated API services. We are based in Accra, Ghana with operations serving customers globally, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and across Africa.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account data: Your name, email address, and hashed password when you register
Project data: Property details, purchase prices, construction budgets, target values, and GPS coordinates you enter
Construction logs: Daily site logs, milestone completions, materials received, and worker counts submitted by foremen
Site photos: Images captured through the Foreman app camera feature
Floor plan images: Images uploaded for AI BOQ scanning (processed by Anthropic's Claude API)
Payment data: MoMo transaction records including amounts, phone numbers, and payment status
Usage data: API request logs for security and performance monitoring

3. How We Use Your Data

To provide the Akoma platform and all its features
To calculate live ROI and project analytics for your investments
To process BOQ generation via AI analysis of your floor plans
To facilitate MoMo payments between project participants
To send you important service notifications (no marketing without consent)
To improve platform reliability and fix bugs

4. AI Processing (BOQ Scanner)

When you upload a floor plan for BOQ scanning, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. This processing is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not store floor plan images on our servers after processing — only the resulting BOQ data is saved to your project.

5. MoMo Payment Data

Payment transactions are processed through the MTN Mobile Money API. Phone numbers and transaction amounts are logged in our database for your payment history. We do not store full MoMo credentials or PIN numbers. Payment processing is subject to MTN Ghana's terms.

6. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on Railway's cloud infrastructure with encrypted connections (TLS/SSL)
Passwords are hashed using bcrypt — we cannot read your password
API access requires JWT authentication tokens that expire after 24 hours
Database backups are performed automatically by Railway
We do not store payment card numbers or full MoMo credentials

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:

Anthropic — for floor plan BOQ processing only
MTN MoMo API — for payment processing only
Railway — our cloud hosting provider
Law enforcement — only when legally required under Ghanaian or applicable law

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access — request a copy of all data we hold about you
Correction — update incorrect data in your account
Deletion — request deletion of your account and all associated data
Portability — export your project data as CSV
Objection — opt out of any non-essential data processing

9. Ghana Data Protection Act

We comply with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). We are committed to registering with the Data Protection Commission as required. If you believe we have violated your data protection rights under Ghanaian law, you may contact the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.org.gh.

10. GDPR (UK & EU Users)

If you are located in the United Kingdom or European Union, you have additional rights under GDPR/UK GDPR. Our legal basis for processing your data is contractual necessity (to provide the service you signed up for). You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

11. California Privacy (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of sale (we do not sell data). Contact us at privacy@akomabuild.com to exercise your rights.

12. Cookies

We use only essential cookies and browser localStorage to maintain your login session. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. You can clear localStorage at any time in your browser settings.

13. Children's Privacy

Akoma is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

14. Changes to This Policy

We will notify registered users by email of any material changes to this policy at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of Akoma after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
